Hydration with Clean Pure Water
Benefits of drinking Pure water
There is one thing everyone seems to be in agreement on. That is the importance of water. Drinking an adequate amount of fresh, clean water is the #1 thing you can do for your body to improve your overall health, maintain your ideal weight, improve your immunity and help to flush wastes out of your system. Want to improve your mood, slim down, boost your fitness level, and streamline digestion? Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate.
Drinking adequate clean, fresh water helps to:
However, all of these amazing benefits can be compromised (and even reversed) if you are drinking water that is not truly pure.
Detoxing your body and preparing it to receive nutrients is not only essential in your healing process, it is going to save you thousands of dollars from wasted money down the drain. When your body is ready to receive nutrients, your body won’t require as much supplementation AND the ones you are taking will be absorbed more efficiently.
What is water (an underestimated nutrient)
Water is an important nutrient even though it does not have calories. No one could live very long without it. It is estimated that people could only live for a few days , depending upon the temperature, without water. Water accounts for up to 50-75% of total body weight.
Conditions that will increase the need for water are:
Problems with not drinking enough water are:
3-4% water weight loss may cause:
Up to 6% water weight loss, you may notice:
And water weight loss of 8% may cause:
A simple way to tell whether you are dehydrated
Dehydration symptoms
The major symptoms of dehydration are thirst, dry skin, dark colored urine, and fatigue. Take a look at some commonly overlooked symptoms of chronic dehydration:
multiple sclerosis
How much water do you need:
Differences in total body water between individuals are largely due to variation in a person’s body composition- the differences between their lean muscle and their fat tissue. Water constitutes about 65-75% of the total weight of muscle and less than 25% of the weight of fat. So a 150 lb man would contain about 90 lbs of water.
You should be drinking enough water to turn your urine a light-colored yellow.
Drink more during hot days.
Also depending on the water content of the foods that are consumed. More whole plant based foods, the more water. Processed foods contain the least amount of water and also require water to make it digestible.
Although everyone is biochemically individual, a good rule of thumb is you need ½ your body weight in oz. So if you are 110 lbs, you’ll need 55 oz of water/day.
Importance of drinking clean pure water
In today’s world there is a very good chance the water in your city or town contains heavy metals, gender-bending chemicals, prescription drugs and other harmful contaminants. In fact, even the chemicals that are intentionally put into the water can cause you harm. Chlorine helps to destroy the good bacteria in your gut… while fluoride has been shown to cause bone disease and even lower IQ levels.
An astonishing 2,100 chemical compounds have been found in U.S drinking water since 1974 with 190 known or suspected to cause adverse health effects at certain concentration levels, yet the EPA has established enforceable safety standards for only 87. The CDC estimates that up to 33-million cases of gastrointestinal illness associated with public drinking water systems occur in the U.S annually.
In total, 97 carcinogens and suspected carcinogens, 82 mutagens and suspected mutagens, 28 acute and chronic toxic contaminants and 23 tumor promoters have been detected in U. S. drinking water since 1974 including:
This prompts many people to use a filter or buy bottled water And unfortunately, even if you’re using a water filter, it might not be enough. Many water filters are not equipped to remove fluoride, pharmaceutical drugs and other persistent chemicals.
And most water filtration systems gradually lose their effectiveness without providing any warning. And, bottled water has frequently been found to contain contaminants, despite the perceived safety and the ridiculous costs. Imagine replacing 4,500 plastic water bottles (16.9 oz)! by avoiding bottled water and creating your own purified water.
Educating my community about clean water has been my mission since 2006. A warrior woman friend of mine and I created a group called Conejo Valley for Safe Drinking Water. We set out to educate the public and help stop municipalities adding artificial fluoridation to our drinking water.
This was in hopes to show water districts the dangers of article fluoride. Although I was warned by those who blazed the trail ahead of me, I naively thought that the agencies that were created to protect our health would see clearly not only why there is NO reason and business for artificial fluoride to be added to the water system but how dangerous and costly that would be for people’s and environment’s health. The managers of the water municipalities saw the dangers this chemical posed by eroding its pipes and costing taxpayers millions of dollars to continue replacing them frequently.
Adding this toxic substance to city’s drinking water wasn’t just happening in our neck of the woods. This fast tracking was happening all throughout the U.S. Unfortunately, most municipalities are artificially fluoridated now.
Despite the collective power and help of late Jeffrey Green (from Fluoride Action Network) , notable scientists and doctors, we were not able to stop the giants from adding this toxic substance to our drinking water.
We first approached the Ventura County Board of Supervisors. Upon our request, Linda Parks, Supervisor of Ventura County asked Robert Levine, Health Officer at Public Health Dept to send toxicological report showing the safety of this chemical to our water system.
Robert Levin replied back with a 4-page letter basically endorsing other organizations’ endorsements. He did not provide any evidence showing proof that the man-made chemical was safe for consumption.
Endorsing other’s endorsement doesn’t make a chemical safe.
“It is my personal belief, based on the available scientific evidence, that water fluoridation is both healthful to the individual and sound public policy.”
Robert M. Levin, MD
He went on talking about the benefits of fluoride on teeth. He was referencing data that supports topical fluoridation which is done under the guide of a dentist. First of all, it is not the same chemical. Secondly, ingestion is quite different than topical.
Even though there has never been a long term toxicological report supporting safety of hydrofluorosilicic acid (aka artificial fluoride), it didn’t stop Public Health services, ADA (American Dental Association that stands to protect its dentist members (not the public), city Superintendents or water district board of directors to fast track adding this toxic substance into our everyday drinking water.
This 4 page letter where one agency was endorsing another was good enough for the Supervisor of Ventura County. She happened to be on the local water district board.
Not only she wasn’t upset, she kept singing the same praise as the Public Health Department’s director praising other agencies endorsement.
It was unreal!
Then on a publicly recorded local water district board meeting, when I asked her “Would you do anything differently if there was no toxicological report showing safety of the hydrofluorosicilic acid being added to our water”, in front of an audience eagerly demanding safe drinking water, she said ” it doesn’t matter. As long as Public Health Department endorses this chemical, she would be in full support of this chemical being added to our water”…….even though it is a chemical (to reduce tooth decay: not proven to work systemically mind you) without any toxicological report supporting its safety and that provides NO hygiene protection!
She admitted openly, in public (on record) that she is support of this artificial fluoridation no matter if there is no toxicological report!
I was dumb founded. I couldn’t wrap my head around what was going on.
It was F*&%ing unbelievable!
I have learned that we can not depend or rely or expect on others to keep our environment safe. We have to take proactive measures. We have to be proactive about taking charge of our health.
It became evident that to drink pure clean water, we must go way beyond what is deemed safe by our city municipalities.
I have been researching sources of clean water for over two decades now. I continue to research as there is always newer and better technology to bring us cleaner water more efficiently and less costly.
“You either filter your water or YOU become the filter.” –Dr. Fine
Not all water is equally hydrating. Not all sources of water are safe to drink. The right kind of filtered water is extremely hydrating. Ensuring a safe and pure supply of drinking water for your family should be at the very top of your list.
It’s not enough to simply funnel your tap water through a basic filter in a pitcher. In order to eliminate the maximum contaminants possible, you’ll need a filtration method that combines multiple advanced forms of media..
Cut through the confusion and find out what the different systems do
Technology that isn’t safe and may be a waste of your money.
There’s more to choose from than simply tap versus bottled. Here is a brief overview of these different filtration systems.
Filters: Standard carbon filters are common, but are incapable of removing fluoride, metals, and chloramines. They make up an important part of our system, but used alone they represent only a partial solution. These systems do not address the most serious toxins found in our water today, and should be avoided. Pitchers and fridge filters usually use filters, not purifiers. Most pitcher and refrigerator filters are only designed to make your water taste better, but not necessarily safer. These filters remove simple chemicals like chlorine, but may leave behind a toxic chemical concoction for you to drink.
Ionizers/Alkaline: True that Increasing your alkalinity to 7.36 alleviates stress on your organ systems right down to the cells, helping your body fight off illness and disease. It is much more important to get the impurities out of the water first then try to alkalize it. A food is classified as acid or alkaline depending on its mineral content. Water straight from a clean pure spring or mountain and remineralized water contain more alkaline-forming minerals, like calcium, magnesium, manganese, iron, and potassium, than acid-forming minerals such as phosphorus, copper, and sulphur. Note that not everything you consume should be in alkaline state. Take lemon for instance. It is very acidic but once in the digestive system, it acts as an alkaline. It is best if your water is neutral…at ph 7. Too much alkaline water and consuming it frequently weakens your stomach acid.
Most water ionizers and alkalizers are marketed by multi-level marketing (MLM) companies with questionable ethics.
Claims that companies make are that their unit will make the water have a negative ORP (oxidation reduction potential) and changes the ph higher, making the water more alkaline.
Some people experience an initial “high” when they start drinking alkaline water. This can easily be attributed to detoxification, and the fact that they are likely just becoming better hydrated.
Detoxification is about the only benefit of alkaline water, and this benefit is limited to very SHORT TERM USE (no more than a week or two). Nowadays, an additional concern is that many individuals have stomach dysfunctions like GERD or ulcers that are largely related to having too little stomach acid. Long-term use of alkaline or ionized water can interfere with your body’s natural digestive process by reducing the acid needed to properly break down and absorb food. This could then lead to an upset of your body’s good bacteria, which can then open the door to parasitic infection, ulcers, and mal-absorption.
Let’s not forget about the cost. Ionizers are a very poor investment because they don’t purify the water, and they only create a weak alkaline effect. Water ionizers have been a subject of much controversy regarding their benefits vs. risks due to the overly alkaline pH they produce using artificial means. It is far better to actually completely purify your water that will create a powerful alkaline effect naturally. Kangen countertop system costs about $4100. It’s under the sink costs $5,500.
Distillers: Distillers have crucial flaws, making them not a good choice for our day and age. First, distillation does not remove all toxins in the first pass. It is really necessary to distill water three times to get total purification (i.e., triple purification). This is very difficult with distillers, and even if you did accomplish this, distilled water is so randomized, acidic, chaotic, and aggressive that it is not healthy to drink for extended periods.
Distilled water actively absorbs what it comes into contact with. For example, when it makes contact with air, it quickly absorbs carbon dioxide and becomes acidic. Since distilled water is free of dissolved minerals and other particles, it has the ability to leech toxic substances from your body and eliminate them resulting in the possible development of mineral deficiencies and an acidic state. You can also rapidly lose electrolytes (sodium, potassium, chloride) and trace minerals, which can cause cardiac irregularities, high blood pressure, and cognitive/emotional disturbances.
Distilled water is great for steam irons and car batteries, but not for drinking.
Reverse Osmosis: Reverse osmosis is a purification technology that captures hard-to-remove chemicals such as fluoride, arsenic, hexavalent chromium, nitrates, and perchlorate, but they don’t remove chlorine, trihalomethanes, or VOCs – hence the need for the other filtration methods mentioned above, but by itself there are limits to what it can accomplish. Most RO systems use only one purifier, which means that the purification is limited. Also, all RO membranes decline in efficiency over time so it is important to use multiple purifiers (deionization) to keep efficiency levels high. I don’t recommend drinking just any reverse osmosis water. Without the right purification steps (structured and remineralized), a simple RO system may not provide a completely pure water and it could be acidic, aggressive, and unbalanced. RO is a useful technology if it is complemented with the correct purifiers and re-mineralized. Even so, R.O. systems can waste apx. 3+ gallons to filter 1 gallon.
WholeHouse water system: If the hardness of your water is above 10 grains/gallon I recommend a whole house softener/conditioner. A conditioner will allow your water purification system to work much better and last longer. It will preserve your plumbing, and will make your clothes last longer. If you live in a city and get municipal water through tap, ideally, you’ll want to consider both a whole house filter and a point of use filter on your kitchen tap. This covers all the bases for protecting your appliances from harsh chlorine and chlorine byproducts, protecting your lungs from airborne water contaminants that come from the shower, and protecting your tap water from all contaminants that both arrive at your house and are added by your own plumbing.
Unless you spend over $10K, you will need to purify your drinking and cooking water in the kitchen. Lifesource is marketed as a whole house conditioner. It really is only a carbon filter. They have a beotron cell that is just a marketing gizmo to say they can condition the water and it replaces a water softener. They are overpriced and they subcontract the installations and service to a 3rd party. That is additional cost and liability. Plus they say you don’t have to change the carbon for 10 + years. This is scary since carbon loads and can release back into the water. It is very Important to have the carbon removed and replaced every 2-3 years.
The right system helps:
Not all water is equally hydrating. Not all source of water are safe to drink. The right kind of filtered water is extremely hydrating.
Source of pure clean water:
These are the options I recommend from low price/quality to high:
Spring Water: Unless you live near a clear source of spring water away from nearby pollutants or have a well system that has been tested for purity, you should look into cleaner sources of water. Visit FindASpring.com to find the nearest spring near you. Note that these springs haven’t been tested for nearby man made contaminants.
Well Water: You may have access to well water. Have the water tested for pathogens, contaminants, heavy metals and radioactive ions.
Pick Up Stations: If a home water filtration system isn’t feasible, the next best thing is to drink filtered or spring water, either bottled or from an advanced filtration machine. Many natural food and health food stores now have full-service water machines that offer purified, mineral-balanced drinking water that’s treated through multiple stages of media for just pennies a gallon.
Best Counter, Undercounter and shower water filter
It’s not enough to simply funnel your tap water through a basic filter in a pitcher. In order to eliminate the maximum contaminants possible, you’ll need a filtration method that combines multiple advanced forms of media.
If you don’t have access to clean pure drinking water that has been naturally filtered (who does nowadays?), you’ll definitely want a purification system to remove chemicals from your tap water.
Your best bet for ensuring good health (and protecting the environment), is to filter your own water at home using the right system that purifies the water.
A high quality, high performance drinking water system helps naturally raise/maintain Alkaline pH, enhance antioxidant properties and filter out: Radiation – Fluoride – Pharmaceuticals (Drug Residues) – Micro Organisms (Bacteria, Viruses, etc.) – Heavy Metals – VOC’s (petrochemical byproducts) – Chloramine – Chlorine – Disinfection Byproducts (THM’s, HAA’s, NDMA) – PFCs (PFOS, PFOA, PFNA, etc.) – Pesticides/Herbicides – Sediment/Particulate – Bad Tastes/Odors & More!
This is the system I trust. It does all of these:
Hydrates your cells and converse water while giving your body what it needs to thrive. I would get the ULTRA-UC-DISINFECT.
Why spend thousands of dollars on water ionizing system that doesn’t purify water and they have been a subject of much controversy regarding their benefits vs. risks due to the overly alkaline pH they produce using artificial means. This system uses quite a different approach to raise alkaline pH within the drinking water range as found in nature (apx. 7.5 – 8.5). The pH increase is an effect of the natural minerals in our system, doesn’t require electricity and is a gentle and natural process, similar as it occurs in nature as water flows over mineral-rich riverbeds. In short, this system filters out a wide-range of contaminants, naturally and gently alkalize your water, provide significantly more benefits and performance, yet cost a fraction of the price of artificial water ionizers.
Renters use this system with excellent results, installing it and then taking it with them when they move out with no impact on plumbing. The units are usually simple to remove. Ask the company that sells the products. The benefits of filtered water systems can and will overshadow their initial costs. Installation of a water filtration system may be a little pricey, but the running cost is notably less as compared with buying bottled water all the time.
Ensuring a safe and pure supply of drinking water for your family should be at the very top of your list.
